Althought it is not easy to extract cancer cells from a patient's body,

Research & Technology

Cytona's proprietary technology on polymer and micromolding has made it possible to manufacture a variety of microfluidic devices* from resin. Having a chemical structure that binds with biomolecules, this material can fix such molecules as antibodies, enzymes, and nucleic acids on its surface. The Polymer CTC Chip was developed using this technology and can selectively and efficiently capture cancer cells in the blood. Clinical research using patient blood has confirmed that CTCs can be captured with high sensitivity in various cancers, including lung cancer, malignant mesothelioma, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and breast cancer, and has published papers confirming this.

*Microfluidic device: A small chip-shaped device consisting of minute flow channels and liquid reservoirs, capable of feeding minute amounts of liquid to perform mixing, reactions, separation, and other operations.

Product & Service

Cytona offers the Polymer CTC Chip, the key device, and the equipment to perform CTC capture tests with the chip. The equipment comes in two types, the manual type for simple processing and automated type for the processing of a large number of samples with reduced labor. Either way, Cytona provides full support to researchers and medical institutions in starting CTC research from scratch and putting the results into clinical use.

By manually supplying samples and operating the pump, blood samples or washing solutions can be run through the chip to perform CTC capture tests. This simple, low-cost system is ideal for starting CTC research.

Blood samples, cell processing fluids and washing fluids placed on a rack are automatically supplied to the chip, and liquids can be automatically delivered under preset conditions. In addition to CTC capture, the process can be automated up to the point of staining the marker to be examined by setting fluorescently labeled antibody solution.
